The Happy Couple Heads to Europe, This Blog Moves On
Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees offer the guy who caught his 500th Home Run - a autographed jersey. The guy basically no, you want the ball make me an offer when you're serious. Is the guy being selfish? Sure. Anyone else in that situation would want and expect a nice reward for it.
It comes down to the guy getting a big payday for it. Alex wants the ball, Alex should pay for it. The ball's only high value is to Alex. He should at least have made a reasonable offer. Alex and the Yankees are lucky we're not in a a time where they would be challenged to a dual .
Oh, and Giambino played 3 games at AAA so he's ready to bring his steroid-free sucking back to New York.
Mike Myers was designated for assignment. They're looking for a lefty reliever. Lee Gutterman, Mike Stanton, and Jimmy Key are waiting for a tryout.
Another thing, Yankees are tied for the Wild Card. Who said this team is done? Well besides me.

Wow, what a rocky season this has been. But finally, it looks like we've got a good chance for the playoffs.
Half game down in the Wild Card, six games back in the division.
Detroit is beat up. Kenny Rogers and Andrew Miller both injured. Sheffield with an ailing shoulder. But still that team scares me. Zumaya is coming back this season, sometime in late August. Every guy in that lineup has power or can hit for average. And they demoralized the Yankees by playing great baseball in the ALDS last year.
Boston on the other hand is fairly healthy. Schilling came back yesterday, but lost. Ortiz has been complaining about a bum knee, but is playing through the pain. But their main guys haven't been producing. J.D. Drew is awful, Ramirez and Lugo are having off seasons. And Ortiz's power numbers are way down. Dice K really didn't impress me either.
So what do you guys think? Is the division winnable? Does it matter? Right now it looks like the Wild Card will play the central (if we win). So Cleveland or Detroit? Which would you rather and why?
Personally I'd rather Cleveland for reasons stated above. Also, I can't believe they've made it this far with such poor hitting. Martinez and Garko are the only players having decent seasons, with OPSs in the high-mid 800s. Hafner looks like a bust. It's pretty clear that the front three, Sabathia, Carmona, and Byrd have been keeping them afloat. Still, I think I'd rather face them.
Yankees called up Critch's boy Joba.
I think the Tigers will win the division but not by much. Their battle with the Native-Americans should last for sometime. I don't think Cleveland is there yet with the experience.
It all comes down to the Tigers being healthy. I would like to see them lose out because I'm not a fan of Gary "There's no Team in I" Sheffield.

You win today's longest comment no doubt there.
Trying to pick up the slack for my Europe-bound brother. Unless, Phil, you want the job.
How about Bonds breaking the record? Baseball sucks.
