Not that any of us care much, but...

...this is a very strange and desperate move, and it's the perfect excuse for managment to fire a Charlie Manuel who seems to be quickly losing it...

Everyone keeps saying the Phillies have the offense and starting pitching to carry the team. Their weakness is the bullpen. Such was the case last year.

The Phillies had the best record (or close to the best record) in the NL after the All-Star break last year with essentially the same team. Some major differences yes. They started out the same and wound up not far from contention.

So the beginning of the season is their weakness. Sometimes yelling in front of/about/to the media works - Jim Leyland last year. The Tigers road that to the WS. Other times it doesn't work - Lou Pinella this year.

The Phillies got talent. They have some weaknesses. They should not be 3-9 or somewhere around there. I don't know what his or the teams problems are. I thought Pinella would have been a better fit.

I don't see the Phillies doing anything with the Manual. They should be NL East contenders. If they finish below the Nationals they should be contracted.
