Alex, Welcome To NY

It seems like each "new" Yankee has to have that one moment that puts them over the top in the hearts and minds of Yankee fans. Remember Hideki Matsui's "rookie" Opening Day Grand Slam back in 2003? Or Jason Giambi's extra-innings home run a few years back during an on-again-off-again rainy game? Or Roger Clemens' brilliant Game 4 against the Braves in the '99 World Series? Alex Rodriguez may have just had his "Yankee moment" yesterday with his walk-off Grand Slam. I won't wax poetic about it, but the joy felt by players, fans and those guys selling T-shirts outside of the stadium must have been electric in The Bronx. If you watched the game on TV, you would know what I'm talking about. If you were some sanctimonious luddite like Mr. Steiner, who relies on Western Union for his box-scores, then... well then you missed a truly inspiring moment.

Get a TV Steiner!

If only Alex could pitch.

He's come to play. The other day he gets on 1st and steals 2nd. Giambi then gets a hit and he has a important run.

If he can keep this up throughout the season, not only will he be MVP yet again but he'll quiet the nay-sayers for the time being.

Alex Rodriguez for President!

I've been an A-Rod detractor from early on, but I do have to admit that my booing and hissing has been a bit... inudulgent to say the least. A-Rod for Secretary of the Interior I say-- (Mariano for President- damn that U.S. Constutition and its limitations on alienage, etc.)

First the Devil Rays, then the Orioles? Does this pitching staff suck or what?

Pettite out of the bullpen?

Wang and Clemens might not be able to help.

Can the cold be blamed? Is it over already?

Alex Rodriguez for President!

I remember A-Rod hitting a game winning home run last year. He was booed again the next game after a strike out. Hopefully, it will be a little different now, as he strung together some good moments this weeks. While I'm definatly not A-Rods biggest fan, booing him seems pretty counter-productive.
