I don't think this is the final word on it, but I'm somewhat happy to hear it. There are other things we can do to improve this off-season. It would be a shame if this A-Rod talk distracted us from other, perhaps smaller moves that could make a big difference.
I think it's the only thing Cashman can offer on the question. You don't say "Well, we're open to offers, but he's our guy for now." If a good offer came in, I expect (and hope) the front office would take it seriously.
