20 LOB

Well, the 2004-2005 Yankees were on hand for this afternoon's loss. It felt like we were sitting around waiting for the blast all day. We got the pitching we wanted but just couldn't get that base hit when it counted.

Would Bernie or Melky have made a difference? I don't know. But Sheff and A-Rod are killing us in the heart of the order so far.

Tomorrow Randy Johnson goes against one of the greatest pitchers ever. The following day Wright goes against the very tough Bonderman. It will take much better baseball than we played today to win the series.

Steiner, edit that post to read "Tomorrow RANDY JOHNSON goes up against one of the greatest..." not Jaret Wright.

If you look at the numbers, these Yankees hit The Gambler regularly. Even A-Fraud is 10-19 lifetime against the bum. I expect a shootout in Detroit tomorrow night. If we lose Game 3, this blog will be worthless as the season is surely going to end for the 2006 Yankees.

And in furtherance of the hypothetical, if we do lose Game 3, we should not run Jaret Wright out there for Game 4. Pitch Wang, and damnt he torpedoes. If there's a Game 5, Muss can take up the duties back in the Bronx.

Mistake noted and correction made.

I expect Kenny and Randy to keep it close, though I think both teams might hit a couple homers. Hopefully tomorrow we can get that hit we need.

Mussina can't pitch on Sunday. That would only be two days rest. So it's Wright and Wang. I guess I would send them both on full rest, so Wright on Saturday.

Courage, gents! This is when it gets fun!

This was a bad loss for the Yanks and it is completely unacceptable that Moose was unable to hang on to a 3-1 lead at home. On top of Moose was the Yankees' inability to hit in tight situations. ARod is completely worthless and should be traded after this is over. I hate to say it, but this team is no different than last year and the year before. They go hot and cold and are too inconsistent to win it all.

I hope Luker is wrong, but I fear he might be right. But that's not the team the Yankees were for most of this season, and it's only one game, so let's not give up on these guys just yet. Maybe they can watch the end of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves before tomorrow's game and it will inspire them.

My thought for tonight is that you sit Giambi, DH Sheff and start Andy Phillips at first base. Give Jason a rest against the lefty Roaster and plug Andy in at first to tighten up that defense. There were at least two times yesterday where Sheff's reaction time over there may have cost us. Tighten up the Defense and use Giambi off the bench when the bullpen comes in.

I would like to see Melky in there. Maybe give Sheff the day off, DH Hideki and start Melky in left. And I would probably start Giambi at first. He should be able to handle Kenny L. Rogers, though he is one of the greatest pitchers ever.

For once I'd like to concentrate on what we did right in a game, instead of focusing on the negatives.

I know its crunchtime, but come on, we're in the playoffs, we're tied, and Anthony's right, "This is when it gets fun."

Let's enjoy this series! We're lucky enough to cheer on a team that makes the playoffs every year, lets give them a little credit.

Everyone, as we speak, I'm rubbing my temples, sending good vibrations to A-Rod. Everyone, touch your temples now and rub them, and send good vibrations to A-Rod! Touch your temples! Are you touching them? Rub, rub, rub! To A-Rod! Vibrations to A-Rod! (faint)

Yikes, all this time I was rubbing a different part of my anatomy in support of our Yanks. Ok, Steiner, let's try your way!
