We stink.

I think Dan's fears are being realized. We certainly seem to be backing into the playoffs at a time when there is still something to play for. It is disturbing to see Randy Johnson pitch as poorly as he has recently, and Mussina left today's game with an injury (though only a bruise). Villone has gone from an ERA below 3.00 to one over 5.00 in a month. As it now stands, I'm not even sure he should be on the postseason roster. It's shaping up to be another mess.

Thoughts?

I don't think it's a lack of effort. We're probably just tired. We played very well during our 29/30 days of play or whatever, but it might be catching up to us now. But I do think the pitching of Randy, Mussina, and Villone is very troubling at this stage.

The Yankees lackluster performance will carry over into the playoffs. They should hope that other teams will be "off" as well.

At this point the post season roster is up for grabs, and that isn't something you want this close to the playoffs.

I heard an interview with Torre this afternoon. He was saying how he won't risk getting someone injured just to have the best record in the AL. "I don't want to rush Sheff in order to win." Something along those lines.

That's great for those of you who live in the Scranton area.
