Great article

Don't miss this Verducci piece on A-Rod. Great stuff.

I will say this: Giambi should read this piece with some embarrassment. He's been in a slump as bad as A-Rod's for over a month now. Maybe Joe needs to drag him into the office.

Giambi's been playing with a sore left wrist for the past month, not a sore vagina like A-Rod. There's a difference.

And speaking of Giambi, he should read this article with a little pride- he's the foul-mouthed, old-school, salty personality in the clubhouse. Giambi would have fit in perfectly in the 1978 clubhouse. I like this guy a lot.

As for A-Rod, he sounds utterly clueless about his situation. He's so deeply caught up in his own ego, no wonder Jeter things A-Rod is an asshole- because its true!

Hahaha. That's good.

Yes, Giambi is entirely old school. He learned how to inject steroids into his scrotum from watching old grainy reels of Ruth and Jimmie Foxx doing it.

Giambi should keep his enlarged head down and try to start hitting the baseball again before he's benched in favor of Sheff.

A-Rod/Giambi breakdown:

A-Rod

.286-106-34-116-.301/RISP

Giambi

.250-89-36-109-.273/RISP

Giambi should shut his enormously enlarged mouth.

Man, I can't believe how many numbers ARod recalls. Jeter's slump, Anderson, Salmon, Posada. The guys is a walking calculator.

His attitude is, "Well Jeter slumped in 2004. Therefore it's ok that I'm slumping now." But, he would never use the word slump.

I wish I didn't read this article. I like ARod even less. He seems to think he's infallible.

He's sorry.

I think that him being a human calculator is the problem. The article seems to point out that he gets too caught up in statistics when he defends himself. The critisism is not that he doesn't put up numbers, it's that he doesn't put up numbers when it matters.

I'm surprised the article didn't make mention of the playoff double-play last year, which is probably the biggest example in most people's minds. I'd be interested to hear what he had to say about that.

Steiner is sore at Giambi because he told TAJT how to do his job: "Hey Skip, stop coddling A-Rod!" Ya know what, Giambi is 100% correct. Obviously kissing A-Rods ass has done nothing to help him get better. Torre... what a motivator!

As for the Giambi/A-Rod comparison, of course A-Rod's numbers are better-- he's a better hitter!

But for the heck of it here's a couple more:

OBP-- A-Rod: .385, Giambi: 411. Even when he fails to get a hit, Giambi is on base.

GIDP-- A-Rod: 21, Giambi: 10 A-Rod can kill an inning like no other.

And add to that Ks-- A-Rod: 138, Gimabi 109.

Again, I'm not suggesting Giambi is a better hitter. But A-Rod is not distinguishing himself as per his talent.

So it's a push at best. So maybe Giambi should shut his enormous mouth before a million little black insects fly out of it, ya dig?
