Postseason Roster

Phil hits on the only issue worth talking about until the postseason. Who should be on our postseason roster? I'll put forward the sure things and what's left for debate:

1. Posada
2. Fasano
3. Giambi
4. Cano
5. Jeter
6. A-Rod
7. Abreu
8. Damon
9. Cabrera
10. Matsui
11. Williams

12. R. Johnson
13. Mussina
14. Wang
15. Wright
16. Rivera
17. Farnsworth
18. Myers
19. Proctor
20. Villone

That makes 9 pitchers, and we'll certainly at least carry 11. So we'll take at least two pitchers of out this list and one backup infielder, plus two others to make 25.

1. Lidle
2. Bruney
3. Karstens
5. Rasner
6. Veras
7. Nick Green
8. Cairo
9. Craig Wilson
10. Sheff

I would guess we take:

1. Bruney
2. Lidle
3. Cairo
4. Sheff
5. Craig Wilson

Thoughts?

I forgot about Phillips! He can also play second base. I think he will give Wilson a run for a spot on the roster. But I think Cairo is in. He's played terrific in the postseason for the Yankees in the past and, as you said, can play anywhere.

I don't have the patience to put the link up right now, but the Post reports that Sheffield is working hard and looking pretty good at first base and may even *start* there during the postseason, with Giambi being the fulltime DH. If that's the case, it seems Bernie and Cabrera are headed to the bench.

From what I last heard, Joe was intent on starting Matsui in the outfield. Is it true that he hasn't been out there yet? If so, that's interesting. But we still have two weeks and I'm sure he'll be out there soon.
