Well its official -- The Yanks have made their first big move of the trading season acquiring the one and only Sid Ponson. I guess he can't be worse than Chacon! Ponson is pictured here about to eat Lil Mac. I think he did actually eat him before he was traded to the Giants a few years back.
In all reality though this is a good pickup for the Yanks at low cost and no risk -- we will see what happens.

I agree that this is a no risk pickup for the Yanks. But I do feel bad about Chacon. The guy pitched so brilliantly last season, and we can't easily forget how he rose to the occassion in game four of last year's ALDS, after Randy melted down in Game 3. I would have given him another week. I certainly wouldn't have wasted a start on Kris Wilson. Of course, we don't know what's going on inside. Maybe Chacon's attitude sucked. Who knows. But this changes nothing. Ponson hasn't had an ERA under 5.00 since 2003, and it was well over 6.00 last season. He's a bum. He's pretty much always been a bum. And he's a drunk, which they say derailed his career or whatever. Looking at his numbers, I would have drank heavily, too.
In other news, Boston lost tonight, putting us two down in the lost column. A good start to the second half...
Wow, Sidney Ponson. He's not a power pitcher, doesn't win games, and gives up 4.5 runs per nine innings for his career. And on top of that he's a drunk.
What does he bring to the team? Why are we under the constant impression that a man changes his character while wearing that Yankee uniform? Why can't Chacon pitch like he did last season?
Yeah, I watched that Boston game last night. Man does Oakland suck! Jon Lester should have been ran out of that game on a rail. Instead he worked himself into and out of jams until the sixth inning. Also, watching that game reinvigorated my hatred for David Ortiz. Nobody challenges this guy at all. I watched Kiko Calero pitch around him as delicately as possible (all outside) to finally have Ortiz single on a 3-0 count.
Another piece of good news though, Watermelon Head may be heading to jail. Tell me Barry, how did your chin get bigger?
