Bobby Abreu is a NY Yankee

Friends,

Let's rejoice for we have lasted through a season of serious injuries to remain a half game out of the division lead and a half game ahead in the wild-card race. And now, Brian Cashman and George Steinbrenner have rewarded the players and fans with a trade that reaffirms this team's chances to go the distance in October. ESPN's Buster Olney (apparently Harold Reynold's replacement in all things Baseball Tonight-related) posted this "dream team" lineup for when all of our players return from injury:

CF
Johnny Damon
SS Derek Jeter
1B Jason Giambi
DH Gary Sheffield
RF Bobby Abreu
3B Alex Rodriguez
LF Hideki Matsui
C Jorge Posada
2B Robinson Cano

Are you looking at that beast?

Oh and did I also mention that Corey Lidle is a solid addition? I feel it in my bones. This is starting to come together.

I gotta give it up to Cashman for two reasons:

1. He had a great trading deadline and the acquisition of Wilson for Chacon cannot be understated;

2. He absolutely ripped mad dog Russo yesterday on Fat Mike and the Lisper show yesterday,

How about Boston's sudden fortunes? Varitek is playing with a hurt knee and Nixon is banged up too. I love that their season now rests on david Wells. They stole that game yesterday, but that won't keep happening all season long. Imagine if Boston pulled the trigger on the Andruw Jones deal... that would have upset me a lot.

And I'm also happy about Craig Wilson coming off the bench. He's versatile defensively and he's got that pop we're gonna need down the stretch. Awesome moves by Cashman!!!

What did Cashman say to that know-nothing jerkoff Mad Dog?

Russo is such a pissant-- all he wants to do is stir up trouble. He's a spoiled brat who got a radio show by some mistake of fate. His hatred for the Yankees is so disgusting but what's worse is Fatsesca sits there, heating hoagies all day and not stopping this kind of crap. The both of them should have their lungs torn out. Isn't it obvious what the Yanks intend to do with Sheff? Please.

I like Abreu of course, but I have no confidence at all in Corey Lidle. He wasn't have that great a year in the National League, and pitchers usually suffer when they switch from national to american.
