Trades, You're The G.M.

With the trading deadline fast approaching what would you do to get the Yankees to another World Series? According to MLB.com, Yanks have interest in Vladimir Guerrero. What about Abreu? Yanks hold option of Sheff for next year.

First off, let me extend a big Steiner's Warriors welcome to Dan--aka Phil Rizzuto--a highschool buddy of mine and Yankee fan in good standing for as long as I've known him. Dan, I only blow your cover because if I didn't everyone else on this site would think it was just me posting behind the moniker Phil. I have a bad reputation in that regard (but dammit, I am *not* OG).

Tonight's hapless loss brought our needs into stark relief. At this point, we have no pop in the lineup and are short in the pen. Can you believe having to go to Kris Wilson in the 8th inning of a three run game in a pennant race as tight as this one? Not good.

In related news, Dotel supposedly had a setback today and will see the doctor again tomorrow. At this point, there is no sense counting on anyone to return. Some might, some will not, but we can't wait around.

I've heard Scott Williamson is available. I like him. He's bulldog, and his arm looks strong. As for Abreu, I believe he has a year left on his contract, and Sheff has already indicated that if we get him he'll be pissed because we'd be less likely to pick up his option, which is absolutely true. But I don't think we can worry about that if we want to compete this season.

A-Rod had another throwing error tonight to go along with his homerun. Some are throwing the name "Knoblauch" around. It wouldn't surprise me, because as many of us has suggested, A-Rod is not a mentally tough player.

Dotel going back to tampa is a bug setback for an uneasy bullpen. We're now entering the toughest part of any baseball season- the second half. Injuries stack up (like they haven't already?) and production sometimes lags. Whether we get an Abreu or a D. Willis (in my dreams!) we need SOMEBODY to energize the team. And Jeter needs to set A-Rod straight in the friendliest and warmest of ways. jeter may think A-Rod is a dickhead (because A-Rod IS a dickhead) but the guy can be the determinating factor in our season. So, I propose Jeter go out w/ A-Rod and go fishing next week. Something quiet and restful. Remember when Maris and Mantle lived together? Those were the days...

Dotel's recent setback is not good for this team for it shows that he most likely will not be ready to pitch at all this season. On another note, where in the hell is Cano. Do we remember when this injury happened they Yankee brass were saying it was just a strained hamstring. It has been over a month now -- something is wrong they are not letting on.

Jaret Wright sucks, E-Rod is turning into Knoblauch and dammit if we can move him after this year for Vlad then END the AFraud experiment and get at least one good arm in the outfield.
