Though it should not be hard to come back from 8.5 down you have to look at the team. The defense is weak. The hitters have been in slumps. And the pitching everyone knows about that.
I don't see the Yankees finishing lower than second. However, with the other divisions having 2-3 each that could be good enough to win their division they appear to get the Wild Card.
So that leaves the Yankees in possibly 2nd place in the division and 3-4 back behind other teams for the Wild Card.
It's either division title or nothing (regarding getting into the playoffs and once in that's another story.)
Besides who wants to play baseball in NY in November? (World Series now starts Oct 24, Game 7 is Nov 1 if necessary.)
I disagree about it being division title or nothing. I think Boston is clearly the best team in the league, though I wonder if we can even finish in front of Detroit or Cleveland.
Steiner, I disagree with you disagreeing. There is no pride in playing the season and being a 2nd place team in the playoffs. The post season is for winners-division champions.
It's time for the Yankees to start piss lightning and crap thunder.

The Yankees are dead. Long Live the Queen!
