More A-Rod

According to this article, A-Rod admitted successfully attempting to distract the Toronto third baseman late in last night's game. While this is far from cheating, it always reminds me of the guy who verbally bluffs at a poker game. The guy who gets his cards, looks at them, sees two aces and says "Oh, man, I never get anything" or some such nonsense before going on to win the hand.

It's just really pathetic.

Just another example of how A-Rod is no Jeter.

He yelled "Hah!" Regardless of what he yelled, and as Manager John Gibbons said, "it was bush league."

I agree.

But the most important thing to take out of last night's game. Rivera looked dynamite. His cut fastball was up in the mid-ninties. It was diving down and in to the lefties. And was located down in the strike zone.

He also broke a bat too.

Bush League - sure
Desperation - maybe
Yankee Win - needed

They needed a win. Being swept by their 2nd arch rival and losing on the turf. Man, things were looking bad.

Now the weekend series in Boston.

As Meatloaf sang, 2 out 3 aint bad.

The need to win the series or else.

The Yankees cannot catch Boston. Even a weekend sweep leaves us 10.5 games back. The Eastern Division is lost.

We are 7.5 games back of Detroit for the wildcard, so there is at least some hope there.

A-Rod says that people do the same to him, and I don't know if I believe that philandering half-breed.

Eastern Division is lost? That's annoying.

I don't know for sure, but if the Yankees came back from a 13.5 game deficit on June 1 to win the division, I think it would have to be the greatest comeback in team history.

1978, they were down 14.5 games in the middle of July. That was their greatest in history.

They can do it again.

That team went through three managers that season...

Wow! Really? Haha, that's insane. Well, I don't think this one is Torre's fault. The point is they came back. And we should be keeping hope alive.

And, how about this? Hughes out for another four to six weeks because of a sprained ankle? Now what? I think the Buehrle trade might be looking a little better to those who still think the Yankees can win. But I'm not even sure the White Sox would trade him.

Has anyone heard about this? Please fill us in.

Oh yea, Giambi's out for a month. He was in line for a corisone shot, now he has some heel tear.

What the hell is going on with these injuries? Plantar fascitis is like walking around on nails and it clearly affected giambi over the last month? Why did we wait till the tendon was torn before getting it sorted?
