First Place.... Again

Gentlemen, let's take a step back and smile. We lead the division and the wild card. But, as the title of this post suggests, it's going to be a roller coaster ride for the rest of the season.

Abreu has been with us for about a week. He's batting .400 or so, a few doubles, and a single RBI. He's also scored four runs. During that span, the Yankees are 5-1. Do we think there's a correlation between the two. I haven't seen the last few games, so I'm not in a position to determine the synergistic value of Bobby. What say you fellas?

Abreu plays with the grace and skill of Anthony Marcavage. Marcavage was known as a tall Willie Mays back in the day.

Abreu is definitely not hurting the cause!

I think his presence is good in that he's probably the most excited guy in the clubhouse-- being on a team in first with a real shot to do damage in the postseason. That sort of energy can help shake loose any late season blues the veterans are feeling. It's been a long but exciting season. We've endured injuries, we've managed to keep pace with our most ardent competitor, Boson. We've managed to improve to 24 games over .500. Once we hit 30 games over that mark, we can start getting excited, as TAJT tells us.

But don't forget this, we've got 21 games over the next 21 days- and against good teams too. Any post-season hopes will be determined by the next three weeks. If we gan take 14-15 out of those next 20, it's all cream cheese.

Scooter, I'm not prepared to disagree with you.

Cano is back and we are one step closer to that dream lineup I posted after the Abreu trade. Matsui will be back by the end of the month. Watch out!

Game shape? This is baseball, so many players are out of shape, that's the best part about it! Sheff can DH and play first rotating with Giambi. Wilson? Who cares about Wilson when you have Sheff's bat? Please, look at that lineup I posted over a week ago. Look at it, print it out, put it under your pillow and pray like mad that you live to see that 1-9 in your lifetime.

3 games up. Papelbon can't seem to hold back those rowdy Devil Rays or Royals! What am I saying, Mo could have blown tonight's game too... but he didn't!!!

Scooter, you cannot honestly tell me you prefer Craig Wilson's bat over Gary Sheffield. Well, you could tell me that, but would you want to? It's insanity!
