The Hard Part

The Twins sucked. They fought hard, but they were over-matched.

The Angels could beat us and no one would sneeze. They have a grinding lineup that lacks our power, but is reminiscent of the run manufacturing lineups of the most recent Yankees dynasty (now a decade old).

Game 1 is huge. Sabathia must be huge.

My feeling on this series is that Sabathia must win two games for us to win. I venture the Yankees in seven.

Thoughts?

Now here's a series that's a crapshoot. I think it comes down to the middle relief. The angels are a veteran group that's going to make pitch counts rise. The yanks do the same thing, but we only have 3 starters while the angels have 5. Overall, the yanks have better hitting, the halos better starters. So it comes down to the pens. I don't trust joba and phil, so I think angels in 7.

Yanks in 6!

The power of Kate Hudson knows no bounds. This will be a "teachable moment" for the Angels, a team bereft of hitting. It will be a battle, but I think the Yankee bats will prevail.

Bereft of hitting? They have seven or eight starters, depending, hitting over .290. The others are close.

They have a team OPS of .792, the Yanks .839. That is a big difference, true. But this is a good hitting team that broke a team record in runs scored this year.

They also steal based like crazy.

I don't think they have better starting pitching, though. Only four starters will matter, and I'd take our 1 through 3 over Saunders, Weaver, and Lackey. But you're right, it is close.

I do trust Hughes and Joba in those roles, though. And we have a better closer, obviously. Fuentes is touchable.
