WE ARE BETRAYED
A-Rod has opted out. No surprise, and, in the end, good riddance. I won't say that the Yankees failed the past three years because of A-Rod--that would be ridiculous--but I look forward to returning to the winning formula of the Dynasty years.
2008 should be looked at as a rebuilding year. Next season, around this time, we can unload Giambi and Mussina as well, sign Santana, and be ready to begin again.

The opt out could mean Girardi is the man...
BetrayRod.
Look, A-Rod hasn't been a mixed bag for the Yanks. He's done nothing worthy in the post-season but he's acked up significant stas in regular season games. And especially this past season, he has single-handedly won several games for the team.
But lots of players win games for their team. And they do so without the psychological drama that is A-Rod. Greatest player of our time? Maybe. Greatest asset to a team? Not even close.
I misstaed my first sentence, it should read "A-Rod HAS been a mixed bag..."
Adam you're forgiven
I agree. We can recover from this. Perhaps not in 2008, but soon. The future rests with Hughes, Joba and Kennedy. They all looked like major league pitchers at times, some more than others. Can they be a 45 win trio? Or even 40 win? If so, the future is very bright. Wang will certainly be a top of the rotation starter for years to come (assuming health), and the Yankees will stop at nothing to sign Santana next off season.
A little patience. Good things are happening.
