Wang It Is

I think Torre is making the right move going with Wang tomorrow. Should we force Game 5, Andy will be on full rest and I would prefer he start that game anyway. So it comes down to whether Wang on three days rest is better than Mussina on full rest. I think the answer is yes, and Torre can do with Mussina what he did with Hughes today, keeping Wang on a short leash should he struggle early.

It is unfortunate that Joba is out of service tomorrow, though Mo had an efficient enough ninth that he should be available for two, should we need him. But we are going to have to get something out of Vizcaino tomorrow.

I am surprised that the Indians are going with Paul Byrd, when they are in much the same situation and have a game to give. They have Carmona on full rest on Wednesday, should it be necessary. But for tomorrow, is Byrd on full rest better than C.C. on short rest? I think it's a mistake, especially considering that Byrd is very much the same pitcher Westbrook is. If the Yankees take the same approach, and our lefties push the sinker to the opposite field, we should have great success. Opposing batter average against Paul Byrd this season: .301. I would not be surprised to see Wedge change his mind tomorrow. This just seems like an excellent match-up for us.

I agree with the Wang idea. He's better than Mussina on shorter rest. And Mussina will be fresh if they need him from the pen. Similar to the role Hughes played last night.

I agree with Wedge's idea, however. He's probably thinking the Indians have a chance to win with Byrd on the mound. And a loss would result in a fully rested Sabathia against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Plus, power pitchers historically need a bit more rest between starts. So maybe Sabathia is still a bit sore from Thursday's game.

Yes, but either way you'd have Carmona on full rest on Wednesday, and he pitched better this series.

Here's hoping it even matters.

And what happens to Yankees GM? The playoffs begin and he disappears?

I'm letting the Boss have his say. I mean come on when he talks people listen. Did anyone see him with the E Street Band on 60 Minutes? I'm surprised the conservatives aren't whining about his new political album.

Oh sorry wrong Boss. He never did get them Duke boys. It's amazing since they couldn't use guns because of their probation and all. What was their probation like 10 years?

Wrong Boss again. What's there to say? Game 1 the Yankees didn't show up, Game 2 they showed up but so did the flies, Game 3 they kicked it in gear. Game 4 if they don't win at least they won't have a long plane ride home.

Anyone see the short list to replace Torre? Girardi, Mattingly, LaRussa.

Steinbrenner also said they'll sign Alex Rodriguez. It's his decision.

Signing Arod to an 8 yr contract is madness. I'd like to see boston or chicago come up with the cash; boras will get us negotiating against ourselves.
6 year deal maximum. And bat him 8th in the playoffs.
