Bernie's Fate
Looks like Bernie either signs a minor league contract or he's out on his "goofy" ass. He has an invite to spring training too. It's sad, but Bernie said it best, "When you give a large chunk of your life to a team, it is hard. It's not like I am a journeyman," Williams said. "When you play this game for a long time, you take things for granted and think it won't end. But the harsh reality of it is, it will."

I LIKE YOUR SITE EVEN THOUGH,i AM A RED SOX FAN:)
Kaylee, thanks. The Red Sox still suck, though. :)
As for Bernie, I would take this deal. The Yankees are basically asking Bernie to prove to them he can be their fourth outfielder. If he can, I believe they will move Melky. And if Bernie has a big spring, he might convince Joe to make other arrangments at first base and make room for Bernie in a Sierra type role. Plus, it's going to be hard to cut Bernie Williams once he shows up. I like it.
How on Earth did she find this hellhole?
First, who the f is kaylee? And who let her post? This blog has been infiltrated by the enemy.
kaylee, surrender or be destroyed!
2nd, what to do with Bernie? I think they should keep Melky to have a young outfielder who is capable of playing everyday should someone get hurt. Can Bernie play everyday?
If he go to Spring Training and plays well how could you not put him on the team?
What I don't like is the signing of Doug Mientkiewicz. Bernie could hit just as well. I would have been able to live with Bernie at 1B if after the season he was signed to play there.
Is this how the Yankees are going to disrespect their lifers (players who played their who career for them) if they want to comeback?
This has already been a mistake for the Yankees and Bernie as far as I'm concerned. Bernie wasn't going to sign someplace else. Bernie isn't going to the minors. Bernie either should have packed up his 6-string and rode off. Or Bernie should have learned to play 1B good enough that Doug wouldn't have been signed.
