Jeff Nelson agreed to a minor league contract with the Yankees this Friday, then promptly retired. He was always a tough competitor who will be remembered as "one of the guys who got us here" and helped the Yankees win four world championships from 1996-2000. It's nice to see him retire as a New York Yankee, one of the highest honors (in my mind) any ball player can achieve.

Didn't he also want out of New York a few years ago? I believe it was after his 2nd coming. He had some good years with the Yankees.
I find this surprising - for even hearing about this and that he would want to go out a Yankee.
Nelson did us right so we did him right. Nice to see. Goodbye, Jeffy, and may there be room for you in the ballgame in the sky.
Wasn't Nelson one of the guys kickin' ass in the Red Sox bullpen during the 2003 playoffs?
