That article brings up another interesting point. Anth, we talked about Bernie not seeing much playing time this year, but it looks like just the opposite. He'll be spelling both Matsui and Sheff in the outfield. And DHing when he's not doing that. I think he could see 500 at bats, or at least be playing a full time position until the trade deadline.
To what Mark mentioned about Muss being in a contract year- here's a list of some of the notable SPs that will be potential FA's at the end of this year: 1) Mark Buehrle 2) Johan Santana 3) Barry Zito 4) John Smoltz 5) Kerry Wood 6) Andy Pettitte 7) Randy Wolf 8) Mark Mulder 9) Jeff Suppan 10) Jason Schmidt
Now, not all of these guys are #2 material, but they are going to make the market very tough for Muss, which will make it very affordable for us if he has another mediocre season. Now, the question I pose to you gents is, out of those ten I've listed, who do you (realistically) think we have a shot at signing?
