Wildcard Woes
Has anyone been paying attention to the Central? Both Chicago and Detroit have much better records than the Yankees/Boston. If the season were to end right now we wouldn't even make the playoffs! Thankfully, we have 90 games left.
In the past we've had the Wildcard cushion more often than not. Perhaps though, this year could be different. What division will produce the AL Wildcard?

Well it's pretty early to start thinking about who's going to win the wildcard, but the Yankees best win the East.
Boston and Chicago are proven. Both have championships within the last two years, and although Boston lost some of those "idoits" the acquisition of guys like Youkilis filled gaps. Their biggest fear will be the rotation. On paper they should have three guys who could win 15 games. But Beckett has been lousy and Wakefield just can't win.
Detroit is playing very good baseball right now due to some unexpected offensive production from guys like Inge, Shelton and Thames. However, both Inge and Shelton have been on a slide.
Thames has been a decent power hitter these past few years (just needs some more at bats).
The big story in Detroit is the pitching. With the exception of Rogers all these guys are under 28! Bonderman carries the battle ax of having the highest ERA for their starting staff. A whooping 3.82! We're almost halfway through this year and Detroit is looking very, very strong.
I'm just an ordinary guy, but I say it's Detroit in the Central, Oakland in the West, and New York in the East. Wildcard will be produced in the Central: Chicago.
Sorry Texas/LA and Boston.

I think Ordinary People is right, as he ordinarily is. Except for that part about the Yankees winning the division. That I'm really uncertain about.
