COCO TO SOX
Looks like the Crisp trade will be finalized tomorrow. A good deal for two of our AL rivals. Cleveland gets a good player in Michaels from Philly, Mota and Marte from Boston, and sends Rhodes packing. Boston gets a Damon-like player to replace Damon. But, hell, that right there is life, folks.

All I know is Boston still has Manny-Ortiz sitting right there in the top half of their lineup. That's enough to keep them in the running for the AL East pennant. This Coco deal is annoying, but its not critical. Aside from Coco to Boston, do you really think either of these teams makes out that much better? I know Marte is highly touted, but I got a Sports Illustrated magazine from 1998 that mentions Drew Henson on the cover. Certainly Boston relying on Mike Lowell is enough to make me laugh for the rest of the season. Michaels is solid, and I will be interested to see how his numbers differ now that he's out of that battting practice stadium of his in Philly.
Where are the fucking pictures on this blog? What does Coco look like?
Boston comes out better, because they've filled a huge hole with a player already as good as Damon and on the rise. Crisp is only 26 years old.
Here is Crisp against Damon last season:
Crisp: 16, 69, .810 (OPS), 15 (SB)
Damon: 10, 75, .805 (OPS), 16 (SB)
It's as big a move as they've made this season, in my opinion. Is the season lost? Of course not. But if we dismiss every move or potential move as irrelevant, we won't have much to talk about on this blog.
We dodn't need no stinking moves to have grist for this blog. Not with our friends from tajikistan. Anyhow, I like crisp a lot, based on last season. I wonder though how he'll handle those bosox fans once he gets into a mini-slump. Also, he might be a cano like figure; he had a good season but lets see it again.
Nah, Crisp is no Cano. He's put up practically identical numbers the past two seasons, and he's just entering prime time. He's simply a good player, probably as good as Damon with a bigger upside.
This should link to his numbers:
