Pavano, Small to start season on DL, Yankees look to Erickson for salvation

Good article on the state of the Yankees rotation from the NY Post.

I guess we have Jason Giambi to thank for allowing us to have this fifth starter, Mr. Erickson. Who knew the loss of Small would be so troubling?

We need to have a hot start out of the gates (unlike last season) because I don't want another Spring where everyone is jabbering about what a disappointment the team has become. Unit, Muss, Wang and Chacon. That's still a solid rotation. Erickson? He's glue.

I really wonder what the future holds for Jaret Wright. As Mr. Critchley stated earlier this week, he's had a terrible spring. Plus, we don't need a fifth starter until mid-April, and both Small and Pavano could be back by then.

He could be traded within weeks for minor leaguers. Of course, we'd have to pick up a lot of his salary.

What would you trade for? A bench slugger? Bag of balls? Coco Crisp?

It would be a "Take my wife, please" trade. We wouldn't need anything in return but a firm handshake.

I'm sure that Cashman could do as well as the Romanian soccer team that recently traded a player for 33 pounds of meat. It wouldn't be the first time either. If memory serves me right, Yankee exec. George Costanza was traded to Tyson foods for chicken franks.

Critch, you signing up for the fantasy league? We're about ready to set the thing up!
